Chiara Léi - Penguin Empress - [Discord Tournament]

2020.11.16 16:08 BestOnixEver Chiara Léi - Penguin Empress - [Discord Tournament]

Team Sub for the Tournament
Name: Chiara Léi
Age: 17 ; Height: 1.50m ; Weight: 43Kg
Occupation: High Schooler
Aura Type: Emission
Advanced Technique: SHU, Her Shu is already quite advanced despite her level because of how it links to her ability. Applied to the things she kicks, it amplifies the power of her killer shoots while keeping the item in one piece. As an emitter she can keep it mostly intact over distance.
Equipment:
- 30 x Deflated Soccer Balls: they are made of sturdy rubber and can be inflated to just the right pressure by her emitting aura into them. They are stored inside a number of pockets on Chiara’s suit.
- Carbon-enhanced shin guards
- Soccer shoes with sharpened cleats
- A pair of sport goggles with binocular lenses, Chiara can use them to locate her target and aim from very long distances. She usually wears them on top of her forehead, like sunglasses, while not using them.
HATSU:
PINGUINO IMPERATORE [Emission-Manipulation]:
The user kicks a projectile and charges it with a not trivial amount of aura to emit a penguin shaped nen beast around it, which also acts as Shu. Penguins are able to glide in the air (or water) to extend the range of shoots, and change the trajectory mid flight at even fairly steep angles. They are instructed with the simple command of: reach the designated target with as much momentum as you can.
The limit on how many penguins she can shoot in succession is three, when one hits the target it can explode on impact like an artillery missile, or bite onto them and wait for a detonation signal (a finger whistle from the user). Two or three penguins exploding together guarantee high damage output even when the distance is so large that the shoots themselves lose their destructive power.
The user can concentrate to share her sight with a single penguin after she throws it.
Limitations:
- The power, speed, and manoeuvrability of the Nen beasts depends on the shape and size of the projectile. Spherical objects the size of a soccer ball are the ideal, the further away she goes from that the weaker the resulting penguin.
- This Hatsu doesn’t work on objects larger than a soccer ball.
- Requires kicking something.

STAR WALK [emission]:
The user can emit a short burst of aura from her feet when kicking. Aided by the fact that she doesn’t weigh a lot, this has the effect of increasing her sprinting and jumping strength on command. She can kick in mid air to jolt herself in a direction, or slow down her fall, but there’s enough of a cool-down to make it so she can’t stall in the air.
This is intended as a versatile mobility tool, not something to be used offensively.

Strenghts:
- 4 Born Striker: Chiara is incredibly talented in the skills that make a great striker which she refined by training under her grandpa. Those include aim, shoot control, reaction times, awareness of surroundings, and especially agility, both on the ground and in the air. As a matter of fact, she could be falling upside down in mid air, but she’ll find a way to land a shoot where she wants it and look cool while doing it.
- 3 High Legpower: her legs are S T R O N K. She trained them to the point that she can jump and leap great distances before even factoring aura. Of course her kicks hurt a lot, she can easily bend metal beams and leave a mark on steel plates with a stomp. Her legs are also fast, by kicking the ground in rapid succession she can perform an activity called “running” with impressive rapidity indeed.
- 2 A well trained talent: Her high Nen talent was noticed early and cultivated by her grandpa. She has a strong grasp of Nen fundamentals, as well as a more than respectable aura pool.
Weaknesses:
- 2 Poor reach in CQC: Chiara is short for Asian standards, let alone western ones, despite using her legs as her primary weapon her reach hardly reaches a meter, so she’s prone to being outranged in CQC and can’t sustain it for long on her own.
- 3 Crappy Boxing: Due to her leg focused training and habits, she is extremely unlikely to use her arms offensively and in general, if not for emergency parries and sporadic movement aid (think Sanji).
- 1 Hot Headed: At times, Chiara will get pissed off at his brother’s over protectiveness and not listen to him, they usually reconcile shortly after.
Character Design and Personality AKA Appearance/sub-bio:
\Kicks Hound off the Keyboard-There’s no need for him here**
Character Design:
Chiara is an athletic teenager with a strong and dynamic personality. She has quite the happy-go-lucky and lively personality but she can be hot-headed at times. She is quite mature and independent for her age and often makes her brother worry about the slightest. Her personality really shines on the pitch or the battlefield; as a matter of fact, her vitality and fighting spirit make her emanate a charismatic and intimidating aura, much like a queen or an empress. This reflects a lot in her fighting style, preferring to dominate the air to put the enemy at a disadvantage and control the battlefield. Her sheer determination, passion and charisma is also evident when singing and dancing. Due to this, she can feel intimidating at times. Despite this, she is quite the caretaker with people she likes and can be extremely nice and warm-hearted.
She has long wavy hair, dyed pinkish orange, tied in two ponytails and her eyebrows are dyed as well. She has brown eyes and reddish lips and cheeks. She has all the physical traits Asian girls share: elongated eyes, thick hair and pale skin. Due to her training, she has quite a stout and fit body but she still manages to be sexy.
Chiara dresses like your standard anime tomboy mixed with a KPOP idol. She wears a light blue tracksuit with orange and white patterns with a pink top under it. She wears soccer socks and a pair of soccer shoes. There are several pictures of her mascot, Mr. Pingo, stitched to her tracksuit.
She likes to wear a ton of wristbands and other sport gear merely for aesthetic reasons, she also decorated her tracksuit by hand, wanting to show her flashiness and fashion philosophy to the world. She always wears red lipstick and pink eye-shadow on her face. Chiara wants to be in top aesthetic shape even when fighting/playing, to look even more “Royal” to the untrained eye.
Bio:
Much like her brother, Chiara grew up under her grandpa wings, playing soccer and learning about Chinese culture and traditions. Despite all the time spent on the pitch, she never let down school and studied really hard to better herself and make her relatives proud of her results. She is quite the gifted student when it comes to language studies and, at age 14, she could already speak English and Chinese quite proficiently (and Italian duh). She started reading from a very young age as one of her favourite hobbies, making her able to develop a wide vocabulary. Under her grandpa advice, she also started practicing singing. Chiara’ s voice was quite powerful for a teen of her age and also quite deep and expressive, making her the most praised talent of her musical class. After the death of her grandpa, she decided to continue playing soccer and singing, as a tribute to her grandpa that helped her develop her talents so much. She also started to feel the effects of puberty a lot more and spent much of her free time reading and learning about Japanese Weeb Culture, even learning basic Japanese. She also started rapping and break dancing in the streets of her city, making almost all of the teenagers in the area simping for her. She can rap fluently in Italian, Chinese, Japanese and English (because she is freaking OP with languages if you didn’t get the massage). Later, she decided to put her wide set of talents to good use, starting to work as a VTuber. Despite her not being 18, she was charismatic and talented so much so the managers could not deny her a contract. Now, she regularly streams every week and uploads covers and original songs written and sang by herself. She took the name of Yuuki Joō and proclaimed her favourite plush, Mr. Pingo, as her mascot (Pingo the penguin) and named her fan-base “The Crèche” (which means “Group of baby penguins”).
Trivia:
- Chiara’s design takes inspiration from a variety of tomboish girls in Japanese fiction like Araragi Karen, Satonaka Chie, Kanbaru Suruga, Haru Yuuki (Younger Chiara) and the KPOP idol Song Yuqi from (G)I-dle
- Likes: Monkeys, Penguins (a LOT), Soccer, Reading
- Dislikes: Tigers, Seals, American Football, Celebrating
- She looks like a tomboy, however she isn’t like one
- Her VTuber name is composed by the surname Yuuki (Valiant and valorous in Japanese) and the name Joō (Queen in Japanese, as well). Moreover, Yuuki sounds similar to Yuki, which means Snow, relating her with the frigid environment of Antarctica. \You can hear Hound cringing and swearing in the background, he did not approve this name at all**

2020.08.18 16:14 PowerPad Trophy gallery, part 2 (With help from u/Gwultz)

(Thank you to u/Gwultz for helping me with these trophy descriptions. Huge shout out to 'em.) With that being said, here's "Best of the Smash AU trophy gallery, part 2."

Dennis (alt 2)
You'd think that Dennis would take to the merging of all dimensions into the world of trophies like a fish out of water, but not long after the Neo Subspace Army rose, he took a job from SMG3 to serve as a primary enforcer. From duking it out with Noctis in a high-speed vehicular duel to defending the Toppat transport train, this furious fish has a bad habit of rigging fights in his favor by keeping several stolen Endoskeletons on standby to attack. What a crook!
Flamethrower Bare Endo
I'm certain you're wondering how we at Fazbear Incorporated build all your Fazbear friends+ to life, then look no further than Flamethrower Bare Endo! His high pressure flamethrower allows him to fuse all the bits and pieces together with jaw-dropping ease, and he doesn't require eat or sleep!++ From Friendo Endo+++ to even ol' Freddy himself, you can take heart in knowing that every single one of our classic characters was built to last.
+This phrase is copyrighted by Fazbear Incorporated, and use of it for business or pleasure without proper consultation from the Fazbear legal team is grounds for us to sue.
++Fazbear Corporate cannot and will not confirm or deny any accusations of us forcing our workers to neglect eat and sleep regardless. Remember: You can't prove anything!
+++Due to a minor shipping snafu, Flamethrower Bare Endo and Friendo Endo share remarkably similar serial numbers and other such internal data, so Fazbear Incorporated is not responsible for any damage incurred if, by some miraculous mix-up, Flamethrower Bare Endo is delivered to your house instead of Friendo Endo, even and especially if Flamethrower Bare Endo goes haywire. Again, you can't prove anything!
First appearance: FNAF AR: Special Delivery
Doctor Zomboss
Full name Edgar George Zomboss. This postmortem brainiac maniac graduated from college at the top of his thanatology class, and immediately set about the construction of a powerful Zombot mech and a massive zombie army, seeking to dominate his local suburban subdivision. Short in stature and in temper, Zomboss is quick to berate his zombie troopers whenever a plan to beat the plants goes pear-shaped. First appearance: Plants vs. Zombies
King Knight
Once thought to be the champion who would save the valley from the Enchantress, King Knight let his pride and ambition go to his head, and soon turned against the people to join her evil Order of no Quarter. Cocky, blustering, and eager to set straight any who dare to knock him from his usurped throne, this gilded goon is a force to be reckoned with, even in spite of his soft spot for his beloved mother. First appearance: Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope
Kaos
Coming from a long line of evil tyrants , Kaos strives to defeat the Skylanders and conquer the Skylands once and for all, both to satiate his own pride and to one-up his much more successful family. Though his arrogance and lack of evil street-smarts often comes back to bite him, he is still not to be underestimated. His DOOMSHARKS are a sight to behold! First appearance: Skylanders: Spyro's adventure (console edition)
Ahlgon
The two warring deities of light and dark, Galeem and Dharkon, were so preoccupied with their battle against the Smash Brothers and each other that they were thoroughly unprepared for Ultron (now possessing the body of YHVH) infecting them both with his highly advanced new Ultron virus. Seeking to satisfy his own morbid curiosity as well as defeat the Smashers, the AI fused the two gods into Ahlgon, God of dusk. With both gods still locked in bitter combat inside this unstable fusion, Ahlgon is constantly at war within itself, and now craves the bitter yet merciful embrace of death even as it lashes out at the Smashers with everything it has. First appearance: Super Smash Brothers AU
Makoto Yuuki (Persona series)
This second year student is different than most: Having a bit of Death trapped within him, he found the Ability to form bonds with others. First appearance: Persona 3
Kakyoin
This cherry loving Stand user had 50 days of friendship, before he sacrificed himself to reveal the stand ability of DIO. First appearance: Jojo's bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.
Duon
One of the primary commanders of the Subspace army, Duon packs two varieties of punch. His blue half can cleave foes in two with a flurry of sword strikes and charge attacks, while his pink half can lay down hurt from afar using two arm cannons and a mortar integrated into his head. Neo Tabuu expended plenty of Shadow Bugs in order to bring Duon back, but as a result of the damage sustained in his first bout against the Smashers on the battleship Halberd, Duon has gone from strong-but-silent war machine to chipper, occasionally snarky assistant bot, though he retains his deadly combat ability and loyalty to Tabuu. First appearance: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
DIO
You thought that it was a different trophy, but it was him! DIO (all caps necessary) has been the vampiric mortal foe of the Jojo family line for generations. Though he doesn't have Death himself on his side like a certain other vampire, he does have a flair for the dramatic, significant physical prowess, and a powerful stand that allows him to freeze time for ten seconds. However, he's quite cocky, which tends to be his downfall more often than not. So, kind of like Dracula, but with a bit of Bowser thrown in, which would explain his passing resemblance to one of the Koopa King's alternate skins.... First appearance: Jojo part 1
Henry Stickmin
A kleptomaniacal stick figure with plenty of adventures under his belt, Henry's gotten himself in and out of too many jams to count. Stealing gems, busting out of prisons, bringing down criminal organizations, you name it, he's done it, in spite of (or perhaps because of) his wildly unpredictable luck. Though Henry started out as a simple petty thief, later games in his series would allow players to set him on more altruistic paths. One has to wonder, what's next for him? First appearance: Breaking the Bank (or crossing the pit if you want to get technical)

Yang Xiao Long
Ruby's older sister, and quite the brawler! With her dual shotgun gauntlets, Ember Celica, she can hit quite hard. And with her semblance, Burn, you can bet she's a bartender's worst nightmare! First appearance: Yellow trailer, or RWBY Volume 1
Fawful
He has chortles! This green Beanbean Kingdom Resident fights using his vaccum helmet, and an arrangement of technology! First appearance: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (2003)
Aperture Science Turret
Standing guard over the long abandoned testing facilities of Aperture Science, these Turrets operate on a simple, yet effective, subroutine: if something catches their eye, they'll shoot. Simple as that. Each turret eschews the traditional gunpowder-using chamber mechanism in favor of launching bullets with springs. Though each projectile packs way less of a punch because of this, it allows them to store 100% more bullet per bullet. First appearance: Portal
Drill-X
Kaos tasked this big bot with drilling for the lost city of Arkus at his big rig. Drill-X often got bored with the monotonous process, and attempted to alleviate his boredom by picking up a side career in rapping, so don't be surprised if he spits fire as hot as the fireballs launched from his drill during battles against him. After being defeated by the Giants and taking on the brief career as a chef, Drill-X returned as part of the Neo Subspace army, integrating himself into Metal Gear REX to dish out twice the painful payback. First appearance: Skylanders Giants (console edition)
Star allies sparkler
You thought the Dragoon and the friend star packed a pink punch? Take a look at this baby! By harnessing the power of their best friendships, Kirby and his Star allies transformed the friend star into this new vehicle to chase after Void Terminia. With the ability to fire powerful charged unison blasts and fly at the speed of light, the Neo Subspace Army got a firsthand taste of friendship power at the wings of this baby in chapter 999: The great invasion 2: electric boogaloo. Even I have to say it, that scene was awesome! First appearance: Kirby Star Allies
Hole punch (Paper Mario)
Hole punch loves to jam out to some sick beats! In the Neo Subspace army, he serves under King Olly AND Neo Tabuu! First appearance: Paper Mario the Origami King (2020)
Belle Fontire
Tascorp's very own Meta Runner was actually on the heroes side during Subspace 2. The only thing that matches her gaming skill is her attitude! First appeareace: Meta Runner (2019)
Fall Guy (alt one)
The Fall Guys game show was rife with a variety of comical yet painful booby traps, ranging from bouncy bumpers to swinging wrecking balls, and Fall Guy can wield and deploy all of them as part of his move set. This is a bit of a triple-edged sword: these traps can launch him around just as much, but Fall Guy has the unique ability to deal damage to enemies he gets launched into. Sometimes it's worth taking a knock on the noggin to close out that final win! First appearance: Fall Guys
Doctor Zomboss (alt 2)
When Zomboss was called into another dimension by Neo Tabuu, he had fully expected to leave the Subspace demigod speechless with his intellect and zombie army. However, it was the Doctor who was left speechless, as the neon butterfly of death threw him out on his ear. Fuming from this humiliation, the brainiac maniac found a kindred spirit in Kaos, who was similarly rejected. Though the two at first bickered over who would conquer where and who was the bigger evil genius, both undead and dark portal master soon found that they had plenty in common, such as hatred of a bearded arch-enemy's army and the incompetence of their minions, and hit it off swimmingly from there. Now the dastardly duo seek to put pay to both the Smash Brothers and the Neo Subspace Army, and rule over all worlds for all time. First appearance: Plants vs. Zombies
Ruby Rose (Alt 2)
Ruby has seen death itself now. ANd now, in her Mistral outfit, she's ready to take on anything! (Yet the dead are still alive) and she's ready to help the heroes! First appearance: RWBY volume 1
Wheatley (Portal)
Wheatley is now in control of the facility, and Neo Tabuu makes sure to check on him and his little death traps. Wheatley was secretly planning on getting his vengeance on GlaDoS, and the person who threw him into space.
Bare Endo
Though we at Fazbear incorporated make our top priority to bring food, fantasy, and fun to families of all shapes and sizes, we still have a business to run, so you'll have to understand if renting out our beloved characters through our patented Special Delivery app is a touch above your budget. But that doesn't mean we can't offer a more affordable option to bring yourself some joy! Introducing Friendo Endo! Available for rent at a discounted price from the rest of your Fazbear Friends, Endo won't let his lack of a costume stop him from giving you a fun time, and you can dress him however you want! And for a small additional fee, we'll send him to your home decked out with the latest in AnimStealth technology. Friendo Endo, the latest addition to the Fazbear Family, dedicated to bringing you Food, Fantasy, and Fun! (Brought to you in partnership with the Neo Subspace Army. Warning: Fazbear incorporated is not responsible for any damage incurred if Endo goes haywire, including damage to hearing sustained from his stunning sonic screech. Remember: you can't prove anything!) First appearance: FNAF 2
Primid
Neo Tabuu puts these walking bundles of shadow bugs back into the fray as cannon fodder, but due to his more limited supply of power, these guys are a little less concentrated, from a literal and figurative sense. They'll just as often engage in dress-up as they will attack you, and one even joins Captain Goomba against the Subspace Army. They just don't make em like they used to, I suppose... First appearance: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Hyness
Hyness and his three Mage generals were banished by the ancients for resorting to drastic measures to stop a great galactic crisis, and the leader of the Jamba cult was driven mad by this injustice. Seeking to get revenge on them, Hyness attempted to summon the dark God of destruction Void Termina, the strongest warrior in the galaxy Galacta Knight, and even sought to draw upon power from Another Dimension, corrupting him and his Mages in the process. Thankfully, Kirby and his friends defeated the officiant of doom and his generals at every turn, eventually purifying them with his friend hearts. Hyness is now back to being the kind soul he used to be, but he can still be a bit senile.... First appearance: Kirby Star Allies
The Necrodancer
Once a humble bard named Octavian, the mad whispers of the golden lute warped his mind, body, and soul. Now standing guard over his crypt, the Necrodancer raises an army of undead and monsters with his malicious melodies, and any who try to take his lute will be on the receiving end of of a deadly power chord! First appearance: Crypt of the Necrodancer
Again, you can't prove anything!
First appearance: FNAF AR: Special Delivery
Young Anakin
Before he was the towering dark lord of the Sith, or even before he was the trusted Jedi partner of Obi-Wan, Anakin Skywalker was a child, just like you or me. Born into a life of slavery, young Ani spends his time scavenging for parts to tinker with, and he's surprisingly resourceful for a boy his age, having built a protocol droid and repaired a defunct pod racer all on his own. However, his unnaturally high midichlorian count, as well as his desire to deliver him and his mother to better lives at any cost, serve as sobering reminders to his final destiny. First appearance: Star Wars episode I: The Phantom Menace
Dennis
A vicious, cold-blooded predator, Dennis makes his living as an assassin and hired thug, and he really enjoys his work. In addition to his combat knife, he also makes use of his spiky boots to literally stomp out his targets. Holding a major chip on his shoulder ever since SpongeBob and Patrick managed to slip away from him, Dennis is determined to always get his man. First appearance: The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie
Bowser's castle hangout
It's true what they say, "A koopas home is his castle." The infamous king Bowser Koopa spends most of his time here waiting for Mario to show up and rescue Peach. Pick your poison wisely when fighting on this perilous stage. The left side is populated with firebars and Thwomps looking to catch unsuspecting guests. The right side seems much more innocuous, but keep an eye on that axe- one good hit will send it tipping over, knocking the bridge out. It'll come back eventually of course, but anyone standing there when it collapses will take an extra steamy lava bath! First appearance: Super Mario Bros.
Endercon
An annual contest where builders from all around the world show off their skills, the big winners of Endercon get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the famous warrior of the Order of the Stone, Gabriel. A large central platform will instantly be constructed in the middle for fighters to duke it out, but plenty of builds will show up for you to stand on, be them on or off the stage. Just don't get too comfy on them, cause they'll soon be taken down for the next build to take their time in the sun. First appearance: Minecraft story mode
Rubber band
One of the members of King Olly's legion of stationary, Rubber Band fancies themself an entertainer, even though their stage plays are all designed to bring an end to their King's most persistent foe, Mario. Pull back the proverbial gossamer curtain with the 1000-fold arms will reveal the elastic entertainers significantly less impressive true form, but they won't simply give up there, and will launch themselves into the portly plumber at the speed of sound for big damage. First appearance: Paper Mario: the origami king
Robo Right Hand Man
Even Henry defeating him on the Toppat airship isn't enough to put this persistent thug down for keeps. Brought back to life as a cyborg, RHM now has several powerful weapons integrated directly into his body, notably rocket thrusters and a laser eye. Depending on what choices the player made after defeating him, ol' Righty could end up as the new boss of the Toppats, or even working alongside Henry. First appearance: Completing the Mission
Night guard office
A simple desk equipped with buttons to close the heavy duty doors and a security monitor, this office has served many a Fazbear night watchman well, or so the company claims. As a stage, fighters will be shrunken down to fit on the desk. Just be sure to hit the door buttons when you spot an animatronic in the doorway! While they'll pay no mind to you, the nasty sight will leave fighters paralyzed for a time.
Doo_liss
hey, izanos! It's everyone's favorite Pa_er Mario boss, Doo_liss! This ghouls _owers go behind even sha_eshifting, as he can steals someone's name and body easy as _ie! Though Doo_liss had a bit of an aloof, _unkish streak, he did turn over a new leaf by the end of his home game and and started a career acting in _lays. Maybe that's why _eo_le were so _leased to see him make a _layable debut here! First a_earance: Pa_er Mario: the thousand year door
Creeper
sssss.... KAPOW! That's the sound a creeper will make when it sneaks up behind you and combusts without warning, depriving you of all your things and sending you right back to your bed. Fans of Minecraft love to hate the creeper so much, it's seen as an unofficial mascot for the game. Just don't be so mad at them you lose your cool and try to strike them with lightning, or you'll charge them right up. The only thing rarer than a charged Creeper is a player who survives an encounter with one! First appearance: Minecraft
Tourist trap island
This Neighborville tourist hotspot just sort of showed up one day, but who can resist a lovely tropical island? However, it's not all fun and games in paradise, as the evil Doctor Zomboss has staffed the island with his loyal undead minions, and seeks to use his diabolical weather machine to leave any passing cruise ships stranded as brain meals! As a stage, fighters will be caught in unpredictable gale force winds at the base of the primary storm machine. Keep that switch pushed into the off setting, or you'll spend more time getting pushed around then you will fighting. First appearance: Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
Plushtrap
Aw, isn't this just the most adorable little thing?.... Actually, not really. With its creepy vacant stare and needle-sharp teeth, Plushtrap was presumably an ill-fated attempt by Fazbear Incorporated to break into the world of marketable plushes. Still, at least it's not out to murder you like the animatronic it's based off of. Hold on, did it just move? First appearance: FNAF 4
Trash and the gang
Budget options for the budding pizzeria owner, Trash and the gang are.... I mean.... They're better than nothing, I suppose. They don't sing, they don't dance, they don't even stay together half the time, but they'll do until you can get some proper moolah under your belt. Even when they returned in the Ultimate Custon Night, the only way they could hinder players was by making distracting noise. I'm not sure these guys will live on in the hearts of children. First appearance: FNAF pizzeria simulator
King Boo
The spectral monarch of all ghosts, King Boo once tried to trick Mario into being trapped in a haunted mansion, only to be foiled by his brother Luigi. This left the ghost King with a major bone to pick against the number 2 plumber, and he's hounded poor Luigi to the ends of the earth ever since, hoping to extract revenge. Armed with his power-enhancing crown and mighty illusionary powers, this is one Boo you definitely wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley, and even staring him right in the eyes won't keep you safe from him for long. First appearance: Luigi's Mansion
Doctor Zomboss (alt 1)
Zomboss is more of a hands-off type of commander, preferring to hang back and pummel plants from afar with a barrage of projectiles. Thrown wrenches and zombie heads do the job nicely, but for something a little meatier, he can whip out on of many miniature Zombot heads to launch more powerful projectiles depending on what Zombot it is, such as fire breath, missiles, or an incursion of imps. To keep enemies from reaching him before he can start firing away, Zomboss relies on the other half of his arsenal: Zombie summoning. Bucket headed Meatshields, lightning fast Pole vaulters, or more unorthodox picks like Jesters and Jack-in-the-boxers, one thing is for sure, they'll lay down massive hurt while Zomboss plugs away!
Zombot's wrath
Breaking open the Smash Ball as Doctor Zomboss will summon his most powerful creation to the battlefield: The Zombot 9000. Bombarding the stage with elemental breath attacks while summoning huge waves of zombies, foes are sure to get stomped one way or another. For the figurative cherry on top, the Zombot throws a Winnebago before flying away, launching whoever gets hit and ensuring some poor soul has to live with insurance premiums that go through the roof.
Takaya
A cold and callous shell of a man, Takaya is the leader of Strega, a group who stands in opposition to S.E.E.S and seeks to bring about the fall of man. Takaya lacks empathy, seeing anything not done for one's own gain or indulgence as useless, and holds the bitter and nihilistic view that all of humankind craves death. Unlike S.E.E.S, Takaya doesn't need an evoker to summon his Persona, which may be for the best. Imagine if he confused it with his revolver, or vice versa! Actually, that'd probably make him much easier to deal with. First appearance: Persona 3
The Lich (EtG)
Awaiting all worthy challengers in the depths of Bullet Hell is the Lich, the timeless and immortal master of the Gungeon. Some think that this Revenant with a revolver used to be the first who conquered the Gungeon, but it's doubtful that any can confirm these claims, and the Lich himself isn't telling. With a supremely steady eye and the itchiest trigger finger you've ever seen, defeating the Lich is an impossibility for all but a master marksman. First appearance: Enter the Gungeon
Evoker
This tool is one of few things that allow a Persona user to call upon their Persona in the real world. Despite its resemblance to a pistol, this is purely for show, and the user is in no danger when they point it at themselves and pull the trigger. However, it does force the user to subconsciously confront the possibility that they may die there, and these feelings of stress are what allow their Persona to surface. First appearance: Persona 3
SMG3
Rival to SMG4, this mad machinimist wants payback against him ever since he got caught stealing content. He's made a few attempts to go straight, but circumstances have turned against him as of recent, tragically setting him firmly on the path of do-baddery. Though his scheme have had limited success in the past, he might just be able to harness the power of the YouTube Remote to turn the tables on his more popular counterpart and establish an iron grip over YouTube once and for all. Fun fact: he has a doctorate in psychology! First appearance: SMG4 vs SMG3 (SMG4 series)
Captain Smasher
The nastiest undead menace to ever set sail, Captain Smasher was sealed away for many years, only to be freed by the Dave-bot 9000 as part of a misheard request for Crazy Dave's birthday gift. Armed with a cannon and a craving for vitamin C, this cruel captain is immune to damage unless you vanquish his cursebearers first. First appearance: Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2
Bullet Kin
These adorable little guys make up the first line of defense for the Gungeon, but don't let this looks fool you. Bullet kin, like all Gundead, are belligerent by nature, so don't be afraid to show them who's boss. Though Bullet Kin are simple enough opponents on their own, huge numbers can easily overwhelm an unprepared Gungeoneer, and some can come with rapid fire capabilities or the foresight to lead their shots to boot. To make a long story short, cuddling is a bad idea. First appearance: Enter the Gungeon
The gun that can kill the past
Contained in a musty chest hidden in the depths of the fifth chamber of the Gungeon, TGTCKTP, rather than shooting the enemy, shoots its wielder back in time to the moment of their greatest regret. Even though such an artifact has driven many to madness trying and failing to find and use it, you'd be surprised at what people would be willing to go through for that second shot. Matter of fact, maybe if I..... What am I saying?! Never mind. Just know that to find and use this gun to its full potential is a great feat indeed. First appearance: Enter the Gungeon
Puppit
An unnerving create of Subspace that hangs from seemingly endless marionette strings, lashing out with claws and lasers. Rumor has it that Fazbear Incorporated established a partnership with the Neo Subspace army in exchange for the army not suing them for reasons relating to this freakish foe. Puppits are a touch more unpredictable than their last appearance, and will sometimes latch on to fighters without warning. Yikes! First appearance: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Spell Punks
Mysterious mages that hail from the Skylands, Spell Punks each have mastery over one element. You can tell them apart by their distinctive colors and different abilities. Air Punks speed up their allies, Life Punks heal them, Magic conceals, Earth shields, Undead summon undead minions, tech locks on to their enemies with mighty sky lasers, water freezes foes, and Fire rapidly shoots flame bursts. Got it? Good! Now just try to remember all that when you have an army Bearing down on you as those Punks hide in the back, providing support and covering fire! First appearance: Skylanders: Spyro's adventure
Armight
Another returning Subspace goon, Armight neglected to bring all too many new tricks for this game. His mustache is slightly fancier and he'll sometimes attack all around him with a spinning headbutt, mbut he mostly just sticks to his old attacks of slashing and throwing swords. Some may call him archaic, but he calls it honorable, and there's something to be said about how he can hold his own amidst all his peers and their innovations. Good on you, Armight! First appearance: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Nyx avatar
The incomplete bringer of Erebus, made manifest by humanity's desire for death, Nyx is progenitor of the dark hour and the resultant shadows. If S.E.E.S wish to save all of humankind, they must scale Tarterus once more and cast Nyx back to whence it came. Though Nyx's influence and power has waned ever since it was brought into the world of trophies, it still holds immense almighty power, especially when Scissors channels their deathly energies through his dual blades. First appearance: Persona 3
Trollverine
Fa-shwing! Let's go, bub! This copyright-friendly troll enemy is one of the heavy hitters of Kaos' army. The claw on his right arm allows it to let loose with many a powerful combo, and the shield on his left can deflect attacks. He lowers it when he's about to strike though, and that's your chance to shred him right back. Even though Trollverine is annoying to deal with, at least that helmet of his looks cool. First appearance: Skylanders: Spyro's adventure
Goliath Drow
Living up to his name, this deluxe-sized Drow trades the finesse of his smaller brethren for raw power. A shame he puts that strength to use working for the forces of darkness, because he'd be quite a boon as a handyman. As it stands though, those guards on his forearms give his charge attack some extra "oomph," and there's no way to knock him out of it- When taking a stand against this Titan, you either move or get moved. If you're unlucky, Goliath Drow may come partnered with Life Spell Punks who'll heal them up, just for an extra kick in the teeth. First appearance: Skylanders: Spyro's adventure
Jack Frost
Hee-ho! One of the most iconic demons to ever appear in an ATLUS title, Jack Frost is a mythical trickster of snow and ice. Naturally, he packs several powerful Bufu spells that he can use to freeze enemies right in their tracks. His fame even extends to his own universe, as there's plenty of merchandise of him to be found. But wait, I though most normal people were unaware of shadows like him! Hmm... Something's fishy here. First appearance: Shin Megami Tensai
Despacito Spiderlings
Offspring of the more threatening Despacito Spider, these little buggers swarm a target en masse, hoping to defeat it with sheer numbers. Though they lack the mental compulsion abilities of their fully grown form, they do pack something far more horrifying: the implication that these things breed. I'm not sure I want to know, really.... First appearance: Roblox
Right Hand Man
Second in command of the Toppats and best friend of Reginald, no one actually knows RHM's true name. One thing that is known about him is his dedication to the Toppat cause and deadly fighting ability. A physical powerhouse who packs hefty firearms and advanced combat techniques like reflectors and shockwaves, you'd do well not to trifle with him, or he'll hound you to the ends of the earth to get payback. First appearance: Infiltrating the airship
Master Kohga
*After the Sheikah tribe failed to stop the great Calamity from ravaging Hyrule, the people turned against the advanced monks. Though some stayed dedicated to the cause of protecting the people, others grew bitter and sought revenge, forming a subsect known as the Yiga clan who worshipped Ganon and attacking anyone they came across. Formed by many deadly assassins and blademasters, none is more dangerous than Master Kohga, who wields the ancient Sheikah techniques of force shields, levitation, and magnetization with practice and skill in battle against the hero of the wilds. Well, maybe not TOO much skill. Just bop him while his projectiles hover over him, and see what I mean. First appearance: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Galleom 2.0
This classic Subspace war machine spent some time as a spirit after being defeated by three traveling swordsmen and two young boys, but Neo Tabuu rebuilt, revamped, and refurbished him for revenge. Galleom 2.0 is significantly stronger than the previous model (which is certainly saying something!) and is much more versatile too, with many new armaments such as a powerful flail weapon and a nasty heavy duty laser cannon concealed within those big metal fists. Though this rampaging Robo-Rhino is a creature of few words, it does exude an aura of respect for those who can surpass even it in combat. First appearance: Super Smash Brothers AU
GAL Mobile Weapons Platform
Short for Gatling Assault Laser mobile weapons platform, this Neo Subspace army transport vehicle was modeled after Galleom's tank form. In addition to the countless Shadow Bugs it contains to release in the form of Primids and other such bad guys, this assault vehicle is equipped with a Gatling laser and two missile launchers to discourage any attackers, and it's rocket boosters and thick metal armor allow it to soak up damage and ram opponents with impunity. However, there's also a certain nostalgic feeling one gets when they look at it and remember what it was based off of. Ah.... Even now, it brings back fond memories of that showdown in the wilds. First appearance: Super Smash Brothers AU
Neo Tabuu
Once thought to be destroyed along with his Great Maze, Tabuu has risen again by absorbing the power of two fallen gods of light and dark. Determined to see his vision of a world of Subspace come to fruition, he adopts the moniker of Neo Tabuu as he scours the multiverse for worthy generals to serve in his new army. Whatever dimension the neon butterfly hailed from is long lost to history, but whether that plays a role in his motives is anyone's guess. Just what is he..? First appearance: Super Smash Brothers AU
Reginald Copperbottom
Don't let his impeccable fashion and posh accent fool you- this stick figure has lead the notorious Toppat Clan on many a successful heist. He earned both his second hat and leadership of the clan by overthrowing the previous leader. Though Reginald may insist upon the clan following a sort of honor code, he himself is known to take actions that are cowardly and downright dishonorable- but every decision he makes is to ensure that the clan prospers as it has done ever since it was first conceived. First appearance: Infiltrating the airship
Nagagog
These growing sumo-esqe Subspace bruisers are back to serve as heavy lifters and heavier hitters. Though most simply retain their ability to grow after being significantly hurt, some of the new generation of Nagagog have mutated the ability to grow into a form even stronger than their red form without taking any damage. However, these lucky few are so cocky as a result that you'll often find them napping on the job, allowing you to sneak past, or get in a preemptive strike if you're looking to tussle. You know what they say, "you snooze, you lose!" First appearance: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Borboras
Yet another veteran enemy of the first Subspace war, Borboras is significantly more versatile than they were in their first incarnation. In addition to their previous ability to blow foes back with gale-force winds, they can spit bouncing bombs for more of a punch, or even signal other members of the Subspace army by trumpeting from their distinct snouts. Who says an old baddie can't learn new tricks? First appearance: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Futaba Sakura
A girl warped in a belief that she was the one who killed her mother, the Phantom Thieves stole her heart (After a blackmail from her, of course) First appearance: Persona 5
Steve [Minecraft] (Alt 2)
In Subspace 2, Steve seems harmless, at first. But he eventually does betray the heroes. How rude of him!

2020.08.12 08:16 VashxShanks A Guide to the Differences Between JRPGs Ports and Enhanced Versions (Part 1).

A new day, a new guide.
This is the hardest one of the guides I wanted to make, because the information is never easy to get, which is weird. So please forgive me if I missed some changes, and by all means tell me if I missed any of them or if any of them are incorrect.
Since this list is really long, this guide is going to come in parts, this part covers:

Important Notes:

  • This is made for Ports and Enhanced versions, so No Remakes. So this is about differences between the different versions of Chrono Trigger, and not about the differences between FF7 ps1 and FF7 Remake.
  • The differences are taken from all over the internet, either from official sources, wikis, youtube, and even forums.
  • I cover all the changes for a game, unless there is too many, in which case I will highlight the ones worth mentioning.

~ Valkyrie profile (PSX US.ver): vs Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth PSP vs iOS & Andriod. ~

Valkyrie profile PSX:

Nearly identical to the Japan version but with minor fixes in the menu screen. In the Japanese version, Characters not in the party were unable to change or learn skills nor were they able change or remove equipment. The US version allowed out of party members to change and learn skills as well as change or remove equipment without being added to the party. Also in the Japanese version, Lenneth would unequip all her skills and equipment when switching between sword and bow. The US version 'remembers' the previous setting when switching weaponry and is automatically equipped with the skills and equip. Another improvement over the Japanese version is an improved item sorting option.
There are a few instances of censoring such as Badrach's smoking.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth PSP:

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth lacks the improvement made in US version. Rather than re-rendering the textures of the dungeon maps, TOSE cropped and upscaled the pre-rendered images to fit the portable console's screen, resulting in severe blurring in some areas. This version also removes the anime opening movie in favor of 3D CGI, animated movie. Certain key story-sequences were animated in the same style as the opening movie and can be viewed at anytime in the Gallery option in the title screen once unlocked in the story. The animated scenes include:
  • Opening Movie
  • Lenneth's Awakening
  • Jelanda's Transformation
  • Alicia witnesses Barbarossa's execution
  • Lenneth's encounter with the Lord of the Undead
  • Lenneth and the Homunculi
  • A chance encounter between "Meril" and Lucian
  • Lenneth in Weeping Lily Meadow
  • Lucian's departure to Valhalla
  • Hrist's Awakening
  • The Sovereign's Rite
  • A Ending
Other big changes are:
  • An enhanced version of the original game's localization
  • Square Enix cleaned up the original game's English script and additional voice over dialogue for the CG movies was recorded by New Generation Pictures, rather than the original company, TAJ Productions.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth iOS & Andriod:

This is the PSP version being ported to iOS & Andriod, with the following changes:
  • Enhanced graphics such as character portraits. >* Enhanced Text.
  • Enhanced UI.
  • The option to skip cut-scenes.
  • In-app purchases to unlock collectibles
  • Ability to turn on auto-battle.

~ Chrono Trigger (SNES): PSX vs NDS vs iOS & Andriod vs PC. ~

Chrono Trigger PSX:

Anime cut scenes created by original character designer Akira Toriyama's Bird Studio and animated by Toei Animation.
A new Extra Mode Option was added that is divided into different categories of viewable extras, that are unlocked as you finish the game, and just as shown in the picture, they are:
  • Theater.
  • Art Gallery.
  • Music Box.
  • Tech Showcase.
  • Monster Data.
  • Boss Data.
  • Endings.
  • Treasure Map.

Chrono Trigger NDS:

This version includes everything new in the PSX version, and also has big and a long list of changes and additions, which I will try to condense them as much as possible:
  • Ability to play using the two screens and the touch screen, or in classic mode through a single screen.
  • Added the Arena of Ages: A monster arena where You pick basic monsters and raise them to fight computer and wireless opponents.
  • Added the Lost Sanctum: A sidequest during the main game. It consists of two dungeons in two different eras.
  • Added the Dimensional Vortex: A extra Dungeon, available after beating the game once and appears in three different eras. Each dungeon is different.
  • A lot of New Items.
  • New Enemies in the new dungeons, in the form of palette swaps of old enemies.
  • One New Ending after finishing the Dimensional Vortex completely.
  • New Translation that changes a lot of names form the original version to something more faithful to the Japanese version.

Chrono Trigger iOS & Android:

Both versions initially were based on the NDS version, but later on got an update to make them similar to the PC version.

Chrono Trigger PC:

Everything on the NDS version is present here except there is No Arena of Ages. What they did add however is:
  • Auto-Save feature.
  • Higher Resolution Graphics and update UI.
  • Support for mouse and keyboard controls.
  • Remastered sound and music.

~ Star Ocean: The Second Story (PSX): vs Star Ocean: Second Evolution (PSP) vs PS4 (JP.ver). ~

Star Ocean: Second Evolution:

  • A New Translation that changes almost everything in the game.
  • New voice actors. >* New voiced acted scenes; All major story events now have voice acting.
  • New recruitable character: Welch Vineyard.
  • New Private Actions and 13 new Endings.
  • Unlocking the Galaxy and Universe modes now require defeating a specific number of enemies in a single playthrough rather than unlocking voices in the Voice Collection. >>>* Practically all Combat Skills have been refined, some being removed (such as Cancel, which is now automatically implemented).
  • The combat system has been slightly refined, now allowing all melee fighters to perform a 3-hit combo as their normal attack.
  • The Super Specialty "Bunny Call" no longer allows the player to "climb" on towns and some terrains. The player now will enter a town upon approaching while in Bunny Form, and can even activate private actions.
  • All items in the inventory screen are now depicted as 2D icons instead of the original 3D models.
  • Many bugs and glitches have been fixed (most notably the infamous random Cave of Trials screen freeze).
  • Ring of Lightspeed (called Slayer Ring in Second Story) now works on Dias Flac.
  • New character designs and portraits.
  • No magic combo mechanic.
  • Crafting animations are now replaced by a still 2D image.

Star Ocean: Second Evolution PS4 JP.ver:

This enhanced version was released only in Japan on the PS4, with enhanced graphics and BGM, and a DLC that helps you with the gameplay.

~ The Last Remnant (Xbox360): vs PC vs PS4 & Switch Remastered. ~

The Last Remnant PC:

This version is only available to purchase in the EU SquareEnix online store as of right now:

  • Crimson Flare, a new Arcana, is now available.
  • New formations, such as Eremurus Rain, are now available.
  • Enemies hit considerably harder.
  • Rare Monsters can have significantly higher HP than their XBOX 360 counterparts.

  • Likewise, certain Enemy Arts now lower morale by a fixed amount.
  • Wards now affect the entire union.
  • Attributes required for formation upgrades are vastly different.
  • Healing no longer raises morale, and morale increased by Critical Hits has been dramatically reduced.
  • Union morale now fluctuates based on more conditions (IE: taking an action, successfully landing a hit, receiving damage, etc.). In the X360 version, union morale stayed somewhat static, usually changing when being healed, being KO'd/terminated, executing a successful Critical Trigger. It also did not drop to 0 whenever an offensive Special Art was executed, whereas it will do so on the PC.
  • Linking additional enemies together does not increase your Battle Rank further than having fought them separately.
  • Special commands, such as the use of David's Gae Bolg, are no longer interrupted by being raidlocked by a different union or having targeted enemy union defeated by an ally.
  • Allies now have the option to cure a friendly union's Curse status ailment via "Cure them even if it kills them!" command. This command is in the XBOX 360 version as well, but is only available when the union is Enthralled; it will not be available when the union is cursed.
Items:
  • Items are color-coded in the PC version, and a new preview feature lets you see what the item looks like in battle.

  • New items available via Blueprint 4.
  • Various weapon stats have changed.
  • Some very rare monster-specific drops can now be split from monsters (e.g., Godwood Timber, Spiritwood Timber).
Units:
  • The leader limit is no longer imposed. Unions can be composed entirely of leader units if the player desires.
  • Likewise, soldiers can now be set as union leaders.
  • The stat cap has been lifted for all characters to allow a maximum of 255 for each stat.
  • The Seven are now recruitable after completing Union of the Golden Chalice Task #70: For Our Lord.
  • Rush can now be removed from the active party.
  • Khrynia can learn the new Unique Art Dual Snowpetal.
  • Arts can be disabled, filtering which skills a unit may use in combat.
  • Leaders' requested components are displayed when viewing their stats.
  • Leaders' wield style can be changed depending on their equipped weapon.
  • Shields now prevent style changes mid-battle.
  • The following classes now prevent style changes: Guardian, Scout, Hunter, Wanderer, Thief, Alchemist, all Mystic classes, Vagrant, Mercenary, Aristocrat, Djin, Fortuneteller, Sage and General.
  • The experience required to advance Wield Style skills has been reduced, and the experience required to advance Weapon Type skills has been increased.
  • Three new classes are now available: Ataraxian, Cleric, and Ninja.
  • The Guardian, Fencer, and Warrior classes now require non-sovani wield styles, and are thus not available to Sovani.
  • The Gladiator class now requires Power Grip and Wards.
  • Hybrid classes (Item+Combat and Mystic+Combat) can now be achieved by units who do not start in one.
  • Some leaders now have a different weapon upgrade path, which caused some units to learn new Weapon Arts while others lost theirs.
  • Leaders can request weapons that do not coincide with their weapon upgrade path as long as they match their equipped weapon type and size.
  • Soldiers can now request weapon drops.
  • Some units have had their starting Unit BR level, stats, class, equipment, arts, and hiring wage changed.
Sidequests:
  • The completion of At Hatred's End is no longer required in order to activate Things Unchangeable.
  • Duke of Ghor now has a … icon when you speak with him between the first, third, and fifth base battles.
  • The component requirements in The Assistant have lowered.
  • The DLC content is now unlocked differently; the majority of the extra content now requires the completion of certain guild tasks.
  • The Leader Extraordinaire guild tasks which required three units of a single class now only require one.
  • The Monsterslayer guild tasks require different enemies to be defeated.
New Game Plus and Hard Mode: After the epilogue and credits, you can now save your game. When you're taken back to the main menu, you can load this save to begin a new playthrough that carries over certain elements from your previous playthrough. You will also be given the option to start the new game in Hard Mode.
Miscellaneous:
  • The PC version will warn you if you cannot leave an area without a fight.
  • Auto Save is now available, which automatically saves after having changed zones or having won a battle.
  • Battle Rank is now viewable outside of combat, in the party menu.
  • Battle Rank progression has been slowed considerably; it takes more encounters/enemy unions terminated to increase in rank.
  • Characters with … icons are now identified with markers on the map.
  • Enemies can no longer be respawned by saving and reloading an adjacent area.
  • New saving opportunities are now available, such as before the base's boss.
  • A warning message is now displayed if you attempt to save your game in an area which you cannot leave until you defeat a boss.

  • Union highlighting during the selection phase has been toned down (ie: ally unions don't look quite as blue).
  • Leaders in reserve no longer gain skills via the Rush only skill grind trick.
  • Soldiers now slowly improve their stats in reserves.
  • Camera in battle doesn't swing around as wildly anymore.
  • Mitra soldiers' idle stances now come in 2 varieties: the one shared by both male and female units and the one exclusive to larger male units, rather than just the "large male mitra" stance.

The Last Remnant Remastered PS4 & Switch:

Based on the PC version, also added:
  • Graphics now are in Unreal Engine 4
  • A new function to run faster on the overworld.
  • Extra save slots.
Yes I am salty about this if you can't tell, since they removed the PC version from steam.

  • The Desert of Doors from the Abyss of Time seen in The Answer will still appear, however, in an extra feature known as the Vision Quest. In this mode, the party can fight stronger incarnations of the Full Moon shadow bosses — save for Arcana Magician — and partake in special battles that test the party's abilities. When all of the battles have been successfully met, a second optional boss can be fought: Margaret, Igor's assistant in Persona 4 and guardian of the Desert of Doors in P3P.
  • There are now two overworld save points; Aside from the log book in the Iwatodai Dormitory, there is also one on the main character's desk at school.
  • In Paulownia Mall, the police station is now the only place where the protagonist can buy equipment and sell items. Aohige Pharmacy is now a buy-only store, and Be Blue V is just a part-time work site and hangout to improve the main character's condition
  • From previous versions, two difficulty modes have been added: Beginner and Maniac alongside Easy and Normal in Persona 3 and Hard in Persona 3 FES:
  • A new tactic, "Direct," has been added to the game, allowing control of the party members, unlike Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES.
  • The "Wait" command is replaced with the "Defense" command, and will decrease the damage and any knockdown effects of the next attack the user suffers.
  • The game grants "1 More" to a combatant who attacks multiple enemies not knocking all of them down; the original Persona 3 required all hit enemies to be knocked down for a 1 more.
  • Party members who have been knocked down no longer spend the turn by getting up and can act as soon as they stand.
  • Upon landing a critical hit or striking an enemy's weakness, party members can follow up with a co-op attack.
  • Fusion Spells from the original Persona 3 are now activated from items instead of equipping a persona and selecting it like other spells.
  • Allies can now take a fatal blow to the protagonist for them if they are able.
  • "Dizzy" has been added as a status effect.
  • Returning to the main lobby in Tartarus no longer automatically restores the party, and must now be done for a fee via the save point (this cost varies based on the date in-game and status effects currently inflicted on the party)
  • Floors can be directly returned to from the entrance of Tartarus instead of being restricted to the restore point like previous versions.
  • "Tired" status no longer is inflicted during Tartarus exploration, and is inflicted to all used party members after leaving (this will only drop to "Good" if the character used was at "Great" during exploration).
  • Unlike previous versions, money found by party members when split up will now be given to the protagonist.
  • Party members' equipment and status can now be accessed at any time from the pause menu, unlike in previous versions, which required the protagonist to speak to them while exploring Tartarus in order to change their equipment or view their status.
  • You can now control Party members directly.
  • The protagonists only have access to one weapon type (instead of having access to all weapon types like in P3 and FES); the male protagonist wields one-handed swords, and the female protagonist wields naginatas. As a result, the Skills "Fist Master," "Bow Master," "1hdSwdMaster" and similar skills have all been combined into a single skill called "Weapons Master." Its skill card is called "Phys Boost," and all Personas which had learned a "master" ability (like Cybele with Bow Master) now learn "Weapons Master."
  • Personas now have the ability to produce a Skill Card when raised to a specific level. Each card can be used on any Persona to teach them a skill.
  • The Inari Sushi in Naganaki Shrine no longer grants random bonuses for item gaining and Tartarus explorations. Instead, it offers to duplicate Skill Cards, which will take 5 days to complete

2020.04.28 10:33 jacksmith-futurama Haven't played this game since 2012, can someone summarize the story up until a certain point?

So I finally managed to recover my save data that was sitting on my pc for the longest time, and I want to pick up where I left off, I have 25 hours into the game and I'm on the date 06/09 in-game date, but I don't really remember much of what happened, other than remembering that I had just dealt with Kanjis palace, or whatever it's called in this game (I've played and beat Persona 5 since then), I sold my vita after 6 months of owning it, but not before putting aforementioned 25 hours into it, and finally was able to recover the save files on my newer vita through a bit of backup/replace->restore trickery a fellow reddit user helped me out with.

But now that I've got it back, I don't remember a thing about the characters. I also don't want to spoil myself though looking up character profiles on wiki, which is why I'm here instead of there. It would even help if you could boil down characters into a few phrases etc. Kanji is an ass but is only insecure about being gay (or flamboyant, or whatever it was, it's been a long time), Yukiko is jealous of Chie's cool/laid back personality, Chie is jealous of Yukikos prettiness. Dojima is stern but caring, nanako is cute but worries about her father and likes that annoying supermarket song, I don't remember anything about the two Velvet room people (margaret and the emo chick - marie), the buddy detective partner of dojima who seems clumsy and dumb (adachi), teddy being so sure he's a real human, I don't remember what Yosukes deal was.

Not to mention the side characters I have absolutely zero recollection of, such as kou daisuke (reading this from my vita as I type), Yumi, Fox, and not to mention the side stories.
Typing this out helped me remember a little bit at least.

Ayahuasca, Shipibo Art and Mathematics 🤯🌿🐍💚
The Amazon jungle has a very complex and also very delicate and fragile biosystem. A long process has been necessary so that nature has made fertile clay soil with very few nutrients for plants, trees, animals and human beings.
However, the shipibo, as a man of the Jungle, is in intimate contact with its surroundings and is part of it, taking advantage of it wisely. Somehow he knows that everything is interrelated.
The knowledge of all the shaping elements of this biosphere represents it in all the original and enigmatic designs presented in their artisanal objects.

The Shipibo have developed art with geometric designs of great sophistication, rich in meaning. The entire world of the Shipibo is full of designs that go from the visible world to the invisible world and back. The designs are painted in black on the Inca skirt of the woman. They reappear in red and black on the ceramic vessel walls or carved on the paddle paddles. They also appear in the fine designs tattooed on the shipiba woman's face that resembles the threads of the web.
"The whole world is covered by designs," says a Shipibo song.
The meaning of the designs has almost been lost. The Shipibo woman says that only her ancestors knew. These designs had a code of meaning, esoteric writing related to Shipibo cosmology and its vision of the universe. An anthropologist says that a shipibo indicating with her finger the sky full of stars said: “You see that above it is full of roads, so above It's the same as below, all full of roads. We make our skirts embroidered in white on a black background to represent the light of the stars. They form designs because we see these paths in the sky”.

https://preview.redd.it/4lf971hw21r41.jpg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=896b7529e748c906cacefdb3e9d40109c0138d08
From ancient times the Shipibo observed the long and narrow roads that linked the stars to each other. These paths resemble stripes of white and glittering mist, and can hardly be seen by human beings capable of crossing physical matter. The Shipibo say that it was the Inca who introduced the cushma (kind of tunic) into the Ucayali. It was the Inca who also taught women to weave wild cotton with the waist loom. It is not clear if they refer to a character from the Inca culture or to God, whom the Shipibo call Inca. They say that the spirits that live in the sky-world wear white, bright and luminous cushmas. Shipibo men have to imitate God. The cushma is painted with male symbols to give supernatural powers to men.
The four sacred colors for the Shipibo are red, yellow, white and black. These colors appear in the cushma. Shipibo women like flashy colors. With her brightly colored blouse and her painted skirt, she affirms her incorporation into the group and feels possessed by the protective spirits they represent. The colors red, yellow and white are associated with the sun; The green, blue and black with the moon. It is customary to use complementary colors on the blouse to accentuate the optical effect: red with green, yellow with violet, blue with orange. In this way, the balance is sought in everything.
To understand the symbolism of the designs, it is the shaman or murayá who has the key. He is the mediator between earth and heaven, between God and men. The shaman tells us that the entire visible world is covered by invisible motives.
It is the shaman's responsibility to rescue the designs of the celestial world and transmit them to women. The reproduction of the designs on all objects of material culture gave power and protection to housing, people and the entire group. Seen from this perspective, the loss of traditional motives would mean not only an impoverishment of the environment but also of the spirit.
The Shipibo woman expresses herself creatively by the art of drawing. Geometric designs of great complexity are transmitted from mother to daughter. The reasons may appear in sleep or in conditions altered by the ingestion of psychotropic plants. The woman can also request them directly from the shaman. A great artist is respected throughout the Shipibo territory. His designs are studied and admired by other women. Great artists practice spiritual disciplines such as fasting and sexual abstention to increase the power of their imagination and improve their creative abilities.
The central motif to the shipibo design is Ronin, the cosmic snake that combines all the imaginable designs on his skin. In mythological time he showed his skin to the ancient Shipibo woman. The mainline of each design always represents Ronin, who has created the universe and symbolizes God. This gives the basic rhythm of the design. The longer the more it will be admired. It must present multiple variations on the same subject, with an infinite number of twisted turns like an endless snake, the Cosmic Serpent. The secondary lines run in parallel to the main ones, as an echo of the dominant theme, in a minor tone.
The thin fill lines are traditionally octagonal and must fill the remaining void.
Although they have similarities, you never see two pieces with the same design. The reason that is initially perceived as a positive design on a negative background can also be seen the other way around. A great artist must maintain a perfect balance between positive and negative elements. The designs give the impression that they can be compressed within a much more limited space, or that extended would cover the entire world if they were not limited by the edge of the cloth or that of the vessel. To see a shipibo design is to look through a window on the infinite. The designs follow an endless path in the topological imagination of the shipibo.
The main figures represented in the shipibo design are the square, the rhombus, and the cross. The cross can symbolize the immortal spirit of a person.
A model of the shipibo cosmos would be symbolically represented by three superimposed planes. Our world would be in the center. The worlds above and below the earth are perfectly symmetrical. Thus the things that are below are the reflection of those above, as Hermes Trimegisto said.
The planes, quadrangular in shape, are oriented towards the four cardinal points, giving us the square and the rhombus.
By joining the four cardinal points with the four intermediate points, or solstices, we have the octagon, the basic design of the fill lines.
It is believed that the cosmic plane is divided into four equal parts by a central cross that gathers the cardinal points. The center of the universe is the point of intersection of the arms of the cosmic cross.
The Shipibo say there is a huge cross in the center of the sky. This invisible cross is represented by the constellation of the Southern Cross that dominates the sky of the Ucayali during the dry months. The missionaries were amazed to learn that the cross was a sacred figure by the Shipibo since ancient times.
These Shipibos artists are shown to us as ancient poets and hermeneutics, that is, interpreters of eternal signatures.
These Shipibos do not claim the work of art as a means of expressing themselves, like most modern artists. They resemble mathematicians in the interest that their discipline has for lasting and eternal truths and for that taste for the aesthetics of symmetry and invariance. And, in its purest form, mathematics necessarily maintains a certain reserve towards the real world of capricious contingency and human idiosyncrasy. This dislike of the personal is manifested even in the books of applied mathematics and those of dissemination. For a mathematician, a book that uses the word "I" in it would not be pure mathematics.
In Shipibo art we recognize that metaphysical survival, without falling into the fallacious equation between essentiality and simplification.
In our analysis of Shipibo art, we hope not to pile up sound words on colored spots or insignificant lines, as criticism in modern plastic has been doing. Shipibo art is not, above all, a product of discourse, but the complex articulation of unity of meaning, the representation of the subtle and elaborate beauty of the prolific veil with which logos are wrapped.
It is otherwise evident that no art could take from "nature" forms that were not virtually implicit in those germs that we can call the "geometric seals." Thus, Shpibo art as all traditional art comes from a science of analogy, which bases the relationship between the image and its model on a geometric symbol, corresponding to a spiritual quality inherent in that which must be represented.
This is, moreover, the reason why Shipibo designs always remain "ornamental": not extracting their reason for being from an illusionist imitation of nature, but always keeping the objective character of what they are, namely, geometric shapes, and colors spread over a plane.
As Ananda Coomaraswamy says: “To have lost the art of thinking in images is precise to have lost the linguistics of metaphysics and to have descended to the verbal logic of philosophy”.
The truth is that the content in an "abstract" way incorporates implications that can only be expressed in difficulty if they can be expressed; the very nature of Shipibo art is the immediate proof of its essentially intellectual content.
This does not apply only to diagrammatic representations: nothing was actually done for use that did not have a meaning as much as an application: "The needs of the body and spirit were met together"; "The physical and the spiritual had not yet separated", "the significant form, in which the physical and the metaphysical originally formed a balanced polarity. The knowledge we have of "ornament" has been emptied of meaning in the course of time, and so we say that it is an "ornament" when we want to say something insignificant. Coomaraswamy continues to comment: "What we call" inventions "are nothing but the application of known metaphysical principles for practical purposes;
We have already said that Shipibo's refer that there is a huge cross in the center of the sky and that this invisible cross is represented by the constellation of the Southern Cross that dominates the sky of the Ucayali.

https://preview.redd.it/4i65c9my21r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4918e87c18f6f00816f849d5e794eb0c9887974
This central motif of the shipibo design is surrounded by Ronin, represented by an infinite number of twisted turns like an endless snake. This Cosmic Snake that combines all imaginable designs on her skin, and that in mythological time showed her skin to the ancient Shipibo woman. This linear representation gives the basic rhythm to the design, presenting multiple variations on the same theme.
The Southern Cross is an image and reflection of the true "Center of the World. "The interpretation of this symbolism leads us directly to considerations that refer to a more "inner" and deeper sense of that symbolism: since the being that runs through that kind of maze finally finds the "central place", that is, from the point of view of the initiatory realization, its own center, the route itself, with all its complications, is clearly a representation of the multiplicity of the states or modalities of the Existence manifested through whose indefinite series the being has due to "err" first, before being able to settle in that center. If we compare it with the symbolism of the Vedas, the continuous line is then the image of the sûtrâtmâ that unites all the states with each other, and, otherwise, in the case of the "Ariadne's thread" in connection with the path of the maze, that image is presented with great sharpness. These shipibo art designs allow us to establish a similarity between these symbols in a way that once again highlights the perfect concordance of the various traditions.
We know that these meanders, among the Shipibo, to some extent represent a defense against hostile psychic influences, those meanders can also be considered as endowed with a protection value, although the reduction of the symbols to a more or less "magical" use corresponds already to a state of degradation from the traditional point of view.
A notable example, from the point of view of the "framing" symbolism, is given by certain Chinese characters that originally referred to rites of fixation or stabilization consisting of drawing concentric circles or a spiral around objects. In the Tao te king of Lao-tsë there are passages where these characters appear and which are very significant in this regard: "Thanks to a conveniently framed knowledge (chie), we march on a flat foot along a Great Way." In such a way that a "well-framed knowledge" is proper knowledge in which each thing is placed exactly in its rightful place.
Occasionally, the most recent mathematical discoveries will come up with certain ancient conceptions generally forgotten or neglected in this modern era. The point of view of the ancients was essentially synthetic and everything looked under the domain of pure metaphysics; that of the modern ones, on the contrary, manifests itself as analytical. These approaches are an extremely important fact from the point of view of the history of ideas. It is precisely, on the subject of this Shipibo craft exhibition, now when we can establish an approach between current mathematical knowledge and the exemplary shipibo analogue in its linear designs that cover the entire surface of his works of art.
We can find this parallelism with what is called in mathematics the "Peano or Hilbert curves", which fill the plane. These new mathematical discoveries that did not fit Euclid's patterns and that were declared "pathological" as a "gallery of monsters", believing that he was born outside the natural limits, have become inherent in many of the natural objects that we surround. It is curious to note that these mathematical structures that believed to escape from naturalism use a mathematical language that is shown, again, as incredibly efficient in the natural sciences.
Peano or Hilbert curves
In 1890, the mathematician and professor at the University of Turin, Giuseppe Peano, warned that you can define curves that fill entire areas, curves that are now called “Peano Curves”. He developed the formation of a curve that filled the entire unit square. Its construction follows the same mechanism as that of the Koch curve. Starting with an interval of length 1, this is replaced by a self-intersecting polygonal curve formed by 9 equal segments. This construction is repeated in each of these nine segments continuing the process indefinitely.

https://preview.redd.it/4hn9jaa131r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f5f0de1941b915bebb196ade6ab538c3895a550
As we see in the graph at each step in the succession of curves you have to draw four copies of the previous curve halved in scale. We place two of these copies in the upper squares, a copy to the left turned 90 degrees clockwise and the fourth curve is placed symmetrically down to the right. These four parts must be joined to obtain the next curve in succession. The curve at the end passes through each point of the full square.
Although, as we have said, the first who built such a curve was Giuseppe Peano, the succession of curves seen here is by David Hilbert. Well, this mathematician, a year after Peano, made this simpler version of the curve that also fills the entire unit interval.
The dimension of this curve is 2, the same as the surface where it is drawn because the curve fills the plane in its entirety (reaching infinity, of course). The Peano and Hilbert curve is a particular case of the space-filling curves.
Peano and Hilbert developed continuous functions of the interval [0, 1] to the unit square so that exhaustive correspondences were established (there are points in the unit square that have more than one image in the unit interval).

Modified Peano curve
It is in the early twentieth century that the idea appears repeatedly in the world of science, particularly in the area of mathematics. Somehow these curves interest, above all, the mathematicians who make the first approximations to what we know today as fractals.
These curves that fill an entire area are now called Peano curves or Hilbert curves.
Recall that the fractal dimension of a curve is generally between 1 and 2. Peano reaches the limit, taking the value 2, that is, its fractal dimension is 2.
The basic elements of the Hilbert curves are two elements, one that we call "cups" (the square with the open face) and another that we call "junctions" (a vector that joins two cups). The open face of a cup can be up, down, left, or right. In addition, each cup has two endpoints, and each of these can be the entry point or the exit point. Therefore, there are eight possible varieties of cups. In practice, a Hilbert curve uses only four types of cups. Similarly, a union has up (up), down (don), left (left.) Or right (right).

https://preview.redd.it/iuotbh6531r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ecf323183403f2c180295f1ea2b31c4837166ef1
A first-order Hilbert curve is simply a simple cup, like the figure above. .Here a 2 × 2 space is filled. We reiterate that the Peano-Hilbert curve is a space-filling curve that visits each point on a square grid of sizes 2 × 2, 4 × 4, 8 × 8, 16 × 16, or any other power of 2. A germ of what will be developed with the name of fractals given by B. Mandelbrot corresponds to what we have described as the "Peano and Hilbert curves". Traditional geometry, the Euclidean, is the branch of mathematics that is responsible for the properties and measurements of elements such as points, lines, planes and volumes. Euclidean geometry also describes the assemblies formed by the gathering of the elements mentioned above, whose combinations form specific figures or shapes.
However, the forms found in nature, such as mountains, coastal fringes, hydrographic systems, clouds, leaves, trees, vegetables, snowflakes, and countless other objects are not easily described by traditional geometry.
Fractal geometry provides a description and a mathematical model form for the seemingly complicated forms of nature. These sometimes have a remarkable invariance of simplification under the changes of magnification, property that characterizes fractals.
These are generated by a recursive Algorithm, that is, by iteration of an operation.
It is necessary to know the notion of fractal dimension (fractional) provides a way to measure how rough a curve is. Normally we consider that the points have dimension 0, lines 1, surface 2 and volumes 3. This idea of dimension is called the topological dimension. However, a rough curve that runs along a surface can be so rough that it almost fills the surface it is on. Surfaces such as the foliage of a tree or the inside of a lung can effectively be three-dimensional. We can, then, think of roughness as an increase in dimension: a rough curve has a dimension between 1 and 2, and a rough surface has it between 2 and 3.
The fractal fractional dimension measures the degree of scabrosity and/or discontinuity of an object presenting a constant degree of irregularity at different scales. In the end, it is a regular irregularity.
The degree of irregularity of an object is nothing other than its effectiveness in occupying space and it turns out that there are lines that are more effective than others when occupying space, such as the Koch curve that has a dimension of 1'2618, since it is an object to horse between the line and the surface. To a certain extent, it gets to bend the dimension and get more from it, as does the space-time curve in the Theory of Relativity.
Some mathematicians have said that a fractal is an ideal way to see the infinite with the eye of the mind since it cannot visualize the infinite self-inclusion of the complexity that reigns in it.

The knowledge of all the shaping elements of this biosphere represents it in all the original and enigmatic designs presented in their artisanal objects.

https://preview.redd.it/qtkvw7uc11r41.jpg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e4750e20f8a1295cb759f6677df8eb816567176
They form designs because we see these paths in the sky”.

https://preview.redd.it/b50d15ve11r41.jpg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=987e0ef37a6aa86742566aef851fe9c239f09164
This does not apply only to diagrammatic representations: nothing was actually done for use that did not have a meaning as much as an application: "The needs of the body and spirit were met together"; "The physical and the spiritual had not yet separated", "the significant form, in which the physical and the metaphysical originally formed a balanced polarity. The knowledge we have of "ornament" has been emptied of meaning in the course of time, and so we say that it is an "ornament" when we want to say something insignificant. Coomaraswamy continues to comment: "What we call" inventions "are nothing but the application of known metaphysical principles for practical purposes;
We have already said that Shipibo's refer that there is a huge cross in the center of the sky and that this invisible cross is represented by the constellation of the Southern Cross that dominates the sky of the Ucayali.

https://preview.redd.it/h4woywfh11r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6efbcb0c1ba45e626cc798a5cff575ed148c39bb
This construction is repeated in each of these nine segments continuing the process indefinitely.

https://preview.redd.it/r15baemj11r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3525163398db7efeb7ce599ed0a377bc54f6071c

A first-order Hilbert curve is simply a simple cup, like the figure above. .Here a 2 × 2 space is filled. The second-order Hilbert curve replaces that cup with four smaller cups, which are linked by three unions, as we see in the figure below; The link between a cup and a joint has been marked with a thick point in the figure. The following orders repeat the process or replace each cup with four smaller cups and three joints.

The knowledge of all the shaping elements of this biosphere represents it in all the original and enigmatic designs presented in their artisanal objects.
https://preview.redd.it/blhmk2hly0r41.jpg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2c432b25303f9b79fd477700010de76c1c42fae
They form designs because we see these paths in the sky”.
https://preview.redd.it/xnuc9ipqy0r41.jpg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf92e9a23084129e604bac0fcf4de7319d8fac18
This does not apply only to diagrammatic representations: nothing was actually done for use that did not have a meaning as much as an application: "The needs of the body and spirit were met together"; "The physical and the spiritual had not yet separated", "the significant form, in which the physical and the metaphysical originally formed a balanced polarity. The knowledge we have of "ornament" has been emptied of meaning in the course of time, and so we say that it is an "ornament" when we want to say something insignificant. Coomaraswamy continues to comment: "What we call" inventions "are nothing but the application of known metaphysical principles for practical purposes;
We have already said that Shipibo's refer that there is a huge cross in the center of the sky and that this invisible cross is represented by the constellation of the Southern Cross that dominates the sky of the Ucayali.

https://preview.redd.it/g63paz5yy0r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7307d276570be49bca2f9bb47f66aeb74e9efbe

This construction is repeated in each of these nine segments continuing the process indefinitely.
https://preview.redd.it/uubp6hsaz0r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72ea9c5af691a72569bd5a8662e5117524dcc562

Similarly, a union has up (up), down (don), left (left.) Or right (right).

https://preview.redd.it/df2cpz0jz0r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23ce23c6e13251b8863d8c57a1c6a1f88638f670
The following orders repeat the process or replace each cup with four smaller cups and three joints.
https://preview.redd.it/pdshu2omz0r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fe057414133ae7d91261a0a4a847175eebf5117
We reiterate that the Peano-Hilbert curve is a space-filling curve that visits each point on a square grid of sizes 2 × 2, 4 × 4, 8 × 8, 16 × 16, or any other power of 2. Of this, In this way, the current applications of the Hilbert curve reside, especially in the field of image processing: especially in image compression and dithering. The Hilbert curve is also a special version of a quadtree; Any image processing function that benefits from the use of quadtrees may also use the Hilbert curve. Quadtree or quaternary trees are a data structure frequently used to represent an image in blocks of different sizes, since it allows an efficient representation of the resulting decomposition and does not require much extra information in the transmission.

Fractals

There are many examples of fractals: Koch's snowflake, Sierpinski's triangle, Cesàro's curve, Dragon's curve, Peano's and Hilbert’s, and all of them we crave strange creatures and ... beautiful, they show a regular complexity and endless self-similarity.
Daily we observe a multitude of objects with a smooth contour that seen with fractal eyes will become as rugged as we want. They have always been among us: in the ferns, in our lungs, in the bronchial network, in the snowflakes, in the river basins, in the mountains, in the growth of certain vegetables…
The Hilbert curve is a space-filling curve that visits each point on a square grid of sizes 2 × 2, 4 × 4, 8 × 8, 16 × 16, or any other power of 2. It was first described by David Hilbert in 1892. The applications of the Hilbert curve reside, especially in the field of image processing: especially in image compression and dithering. It has advantages in those operations where the coherence between neighboring pixels is important. The Hilbert curve is also a special version of a quadtree, any image processing function that benefits from the use of quadtrees may also use the Hilbert curve.

Conclusion

The Hilbert curve is easy to generate. When we apply it on a digitized photograph or on a striped image, it makes better use of the coherence of neighboring pixels than the traditional approach based online scanning. The Hilbert curve offers an alternative to scanning a line-by-line image.
This allows it to be applied to achieve, for example, faded or degraded of better quality. Blur along the Hilbert curve, which is extremely irregular for our sensory system, eliminates the problem of adjacency of points that has a scan on horizontal lines.

Dithering of images with the Hilbert curve

As we have already advanced, this curve is one of the pathological geometric situations prior to 1975 (specifically 1890), but we will see that there are technical applications of this curve in digital imaging. When we want to dump an image with gray levels in a laser printer of the first generations, it is necessary to build an approximate binary model, since these printers only understand, for each of the (possibly) 300 dpi, a code: 0 or 1 (ink / no ink). Dithering or dithering techniques are used to solve this problem. Dithering techniques are intended to simulate that a very extensive color palette is available, when, in reality, only a few colors are available. Also, simulate that many gray levels are available to describe an image,
https://preview.redd.it/44o2a7fqz0r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df27cd7d4ebf470461e9eb7c7c785bfd32e01714
Original Lena image in 256 gray levels (left), with dithering to mimic 256 levels from a smaller set (center) and with dithering based only on two tones (right).
Usually, the image is scanned by lines or blocks of pixels, producing the binary approximation in order to minimize the overall error. Normally, small defects appear in the image thus calculated, which make the dithering process that has been used obviously.
Comparison of traditional dithering (left) and dithering with Hilbert curve (right)
https://preview.redd.it/uie7dj4tz0r41.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f56049c95fb0ae803b4eadb7e032106e4f26fad

Dithering algorithm

To eliminate the aforementioned defects, let's imagine a Hilbert curve that passes through all the pixels in the image with gray levels. A certain sequence of pixels on the curve becomes 0 or 1. The advantage of this scanning method is the absence of directional trends, present in other procedures.

Hilbert II curve

I write these notes on the Shipibo art at the suggestion of Victor Barrios, who prepares an exhibition of the craftsmanship of these natives, which has been brought from the Amazon.
Victor is a traveler who still uses the medieval maps in which the Eastern Paradise appears. Although Victor knows that to undertake the pilgrimage to the "East," it is necessary to have a foreign soul and a map that has nothing to do with our physical geography. This Paradise is the place to which the people of all times have named in different ways: Itaca, Hyperborea, Avalon, Shambala, Thule, Salem, Aztlan ... Victor and his friends have an arduous task: difficult and dark is the way and multiple the chances of loss, greater should also be hope, because, "where danger abounds, that which saves" also grows.

2019.09.03 22:16 MagicalLightning Joshi Twitter Popularity August 2019

So last month I made a post in this thread about the most popular Joshi on twitter and mentioned that I might follow up on it this month when I had more data. Well, this thread is that following up.
Here is the full spreadsheet detailing each wrestler's number of followers on the first on last month and this month and the amount gained in-between as well as the promotion they mainly work for. It also serves as a pretty good repository for Twitter handles, as I managed to find 200 of them.
A few notes on the list:
Here's a summary of the top twenty in Total Followers and Followers Gained:
Top Twenty Total Followers:
  1. Asuka (WWE) : 523865
  2. Kairi Sane : 218731
  3. Io Shirai : 112006
  4. Reika Saiki : 69187
  5. Maki Ito : 59286
  6. Mina Shirakawa : 34175
  7. Saki Akai : 31769
  8. Mayu Iwatani : 31023
  9. Hikaru Shida : 27485
  10. Meiko Satomura : 22656
  11. Hana Kimura : 20525
  12. Tam Nakano : 19932
  13. Konami : 18330
  14. Makoto : 17920
  15. Utami Hayashishita : 17422
  16. Tsukasa Fujimoto : 17297
  17. Syuri : 16823
  18. Risa Sera : 16539
  19. Saori Anou : 14675
  20. Hiroyo Matsumoto : 13808
Not really much change from last month here just two sets of place changes. Saki Akai managed to overtake Mayu Iwatani with a burst of over 1000 followers at the start of the month and Utami Hayashishita switched places with Tsukasa Fujimoto having consistently gained more followers over the past few months. No one managed to make it into the top twenty this month but they probably will they month. Himawari Unagi is just 8 followers behind Hiroyo Matsumoto and while Natsu Sumire, Yuka Sakazaki, Hazuki and An Chamu are further back they all tend to gain quite a few more followers per month, at least recently, than Matsumoto.
Top Twenty Followers Gained August 2019
  1. Asuka (WWE) : 9403
  2. Kairi Sane : 9371
  3. Io Shirai : 7251
  4. Riho : 2235
  5. Reika Saiki : 1901
  6. Saki Akai : 1749
  7. Hikaru Shida : 1747
  8. Maki Ito: 1478
  9. Yuki Kamifuku : 1246
  10. Mina Shirakawa : 987
  11. Mayu Iwatani : 750
  12. Arisa Hoshiki : 730
  13. Saya Kamitani : 615
  14. Yuna Manase : 552
  15. Yuka Sakazaki : 514
  16. Starlight Kid : 504
  17. Hazuki : 498
  18. An Chamu : 452
  19. Natsumi Maki : 451
  20. Sumie Sakai : 443
A bit more change here. Asuka and Kairi are top as you'd expect and Io reclaims the third spot with a much improved month, mostly because of her takeover match (though she would still have made third with last month's total). A batch of Stardom wrestlers make it in of course, with Mayu Iwatani, Hazuki and Starlight Kid remaining consistently popular and Saya Kamitani garnering quite a bit of attention before her debut. Of the Stardom wrestlers though, it most pleasing to see Arisa Hoshiki in the top twenty, her gains really picked up after that Kyona match. There's also the charismatic Idol/Model types making into the twenty again: Reika Saiki, Mina Shirakawa and An Chamu are all still gaining popularity quickly, Maki Ito and Yuki Kamifuku gained a lot of followers with an... interesting twitter exchange (Maki getting nearly 900 in a single day). Yuna Manase got a bit of attention from the curious p2 Trainspochatting show whilst Saki Akai got a burst of followers at the start of the month, I'm not quite sure what from. Not entirely sure how much TJPW duo Yuka Sakazaki and Natsumi Maki both make the top twenty with Yuka just being consistently popular and Natsumi being helped by becoming their new International Princess Champion. Not sure how Sumie Sakai made it in, I don't pay much attention to ROH but all the news about them is that they aren't doing so well, I guess there must still be a enough eyes on their product. Finally, Riho and Hikaru Shida benefit from their All Out announcement and appearance, though in Riho's case she also gained followers from joining Stardom and her and Kenny Omega's DDT tag team match announcement. Both should do well for September as well as Riho has already gained 800ish and Shida over 1500 so far this month (with 900+ today) as the All Out spike continues.
That's about it, I was going to post more about how each promotion is doing and which wrestlers apart from the top twenty have done particularly well/poorly but my enthusiasm for doing this has waned the longer I took and I just want to get it posted. I think if I do a post next month I'll just post the spreadsheet. Hopefully this is of interest to some of you, please let me know if you see an obvious mistake.
Edit: Per the comments, I've added Jaguar Yokota, Chie Koishikawa, Mai Mizuochi and Momoka Hanazono to the list. I've also added a wrestler named Chesca who's Filipina but only has matches for Japanese promotions on Cagematch. I don't have their numbers for September 1st or before so it's just their name, promotion and twitter handle. Their current (September 4th) totals are as follows:

  • For Science! (Note: Ordered from wholesome to lewd. The first one is actually pretty wholesome, but the last one is borderline NSFW)

Comment of the Day:

So, here we are, in a weird space where everything can happen.
Technically spoilers for tomorrow, but I'll advice reading this to avoid confusion:
If you were wondering why Ooishi is 'Cloud', it comes from his last name 'Kuraudo', which is more or less how a Japanese would pronounce the English word 'Cloud'.
And about Chie-sensei busting out the T-squares - it's an homage to Ciel from Tsukihime (who also is a curry freak, and they share the same voice actress).

Music Corner:

The new OP we saw today is called Super scription of Data
And then, prepare yourself to be blown away by none other than Maebara Keiichi K: Cool ni Nare ~Keep on Our Love~ (Be COOL! ~Keep on Our Love~)
Lyrics can be found here.
Please refrain from posting any kind of spoilers, hints, or revelations of any kind that exist beyond the current episode. Make use of spoiler tags if you must. I ask every rewatcher to help crack down on these.

2018.06.10 21:47 mantrap2 1st Independence Day, July 4, 1946 - Salcedo, Samar, Philippines

I realized I should probably post here in /Philippines:
My grandfather was a civilian working for Kaiser Shipyards recovering all the LSTs et al., after the Leyte invasion, in early 1945 (the battle was Oct-Dec 1944). He also liked to take photos and managed to take some early hobby color film with him.
The goal was to prepare the assets, floating and sunken from the Leyte invasion, for the expected invasion of Japan. This was happening on Manicani Island off the coast of Samar.
Being a government contract, just because the war ended "prematurely" without the invasion didn't mean you stop the refurbishment so he was there until 1946. In fact, he got to see Manila just after it was taken back and he was present at ceremonies on Samar for Philippine Independence Day (July 4, 1946).
By that point, the "invasion navy" was given to Chang-Kai Shek and the Nationalist Chinese Army to fight Mao and his communist army. So at the Independence Day ceremony there were ROC flags (aka Taiwan's flag) along side US and Philippine flags. The sign says:
"Chinese Chamber of Commerce Welcomes His Excellency Manuel A. Roxas Senate President ?? Acelcedo . Chinese Battalion, ???st Brigade, Gu??as? Division and Hua Chio Hu Chie Seu"
The last name is probably the name and rank of the representative from Chang Kai Shek.
My favorite image from the Independence Day ceremony is of a wood cut-out Uncle Sam handing a much smaller "little brown brother" Filipino his new Constitution. A bit patronizing but par for the time.
The sign says:
"The Municipality of Salcedo welcomes President Roxas and party".
So it was not a minor event, though if you wander around Salcedo today on Google maps, it's not big town but it is typical of a provincial Filipino town. I haven't found the same vantage as the photo - the tropical climate is harsh on everything including buildings so there's a decent chance all are gone already. (Maybe someone local will recognize it and point it out!)
Salamat sa iyong mga mata! :-)

2018.05.13 23:53 Virgilizartor How do you get out of pressure with Ragna in BBTAG?

I have mainly been playing Ragna and Chie for the past couple of days and while I can manage to force my way out of blockstrings with Chie, Ragna's attacks are slow as a mule. I keep trying to 4A and I whiff or I try to 5A and get punished instantly against characters like Weiss, Hyde and Makoto, that seem to have crazy strong frame traps and safe moves. I have no idea what would be the best way to get those cocksuckers off me. On another note, is there any frame data released for the game? I'd like to figure out safe moves for my main characters until it comes out in June. Also, are they going to do anything about Gordeau? He's on pre UNIEL[st] leveles of cheap and broken and playing against him is tedious and crappy. Thanks in advance.

2017.12.27 20:27 Kamakaii What idols do you expect to see get a CM?

So, I decided to sit down and collect some data on the cinderella election and how it affects which girls recieve Cinderella Masters. Here’s the interesting stuff I noticed:
Here is a spreadsheet of all of the Voiced + Ranked idols with no CM. The X indicates years that they have placed in a Cinderella Girl Election.
Hajime Takumi Nono Haruna Mirei Yuzu Hina Shizuku Chie Ayame Shin
Election 1 x x x
Election 2 x x x x x x
Election 3 x x x x x x x x
Election 4 x x x x x x x
Election 5 x x x x x x x
Election 6 x x x x
Based on this information, what girls do you expect to see get a CM next? I’m expecting Shin, Mirei, and Hajime.

2017.11.15 22:05 Azuregoz Time to feel old: Current age of some of the main cast of past games in P5 timeline

Baseline: Ann Takamaki is marked as being 16 years old and born in 1999 we can safely assume the game takes place in 2016 furthermore in game dialogue about Rise Kujikawa confirms this by stating she is 20 years old and considering she is born in june this means she will be turning 21 the year P5 takes place. Note that I will be taking mainly the years and not the full birthday so Ann Takamaki will be considered 17 for instance. I will be using a mix of the wiki and for data that is not in the wiki will use my own memory of the game so everything here is to be taken with a grain of salt.
Persona 1 cast :
  • Protagonist born in 1979 he currently is 37
  • Hidehiko Uesugi and Yuka Ayase are currently 36 since they are year younger
This places them in a rough estimate of being between 7 to 10 years older than Tae Takemi depending on how you estimate her age
9 years younger than Dojima (Born in 1970 ) considering Nanako is 7 at the time of persona 4 they are already past the age Dojima was when his daughter was born by 3-4 years (estimated age 33)
If they had a kid at 30 their kid would be the same age as Nanako in P4
Persona 2:
  • Tatsuya Suou born in 1981 that makes him 35 years old
  • Maya Amano born 1976 that makes her 40 her age gap with dojima is the same as the gap between Ken and the protagonist of P3
  • Lisa Silverman 1 year younger than Tatsuya so 34 Eikichi 2 years younger than Tatsuya so 33 (still older than Sae, Kawakami and possibly Tae and Iway by a decent margin depending on how you estimate their ages from dialogue)
  • EDIT : They are possibly around the age of Kawakami rather than older (see P3 correction for more details)
Persona 3
  • Protagnist Yukari and Junpei were born in 1992 so that would make them 24 depending on how you interpret Kawakami's sentence of how she is still considered on the young side (look up christmas cake) they would roughly be her age.
  • Mitsuru and Akihiko are 1 year older so they are 25 and once again roughly Kawakami's age.
  • Aigis was created on 1999 and thus is the same age as ann takamaki and the protagonist at 17 and Ken Amada being 6 years younger than the protagonist that makes him 18 years old which means he's the same age as Makoto and Haru (let these two sink in for a bit)
  • Maiko's age is not revealed but for fun let's consider her in age range in japan elementary school goes from 6 years old to 12 years old making her age range 4 years younger than Aigis to 2 years older meaning she could be anywhere from 1 year older than Makoto to 1 year younger than Futaba Sakura but she is most likely younger than Makoto and possibly older than Futaba. (Yes THAT Maiko is most likely older than Futaba)
  • Edit: as L1k34S0MB0D33 Pointed out Kawakami is mentioned to be in her thirties in the art book so comparing their ages to Kawakami is not valid, they would be around the age of Chihaya if not older
  • Edit 2: the exact sentence being "around 30" makes it difficult to define Kawakami's age as being in her thirties close to being 30 or possibly younger through what japanese define as around thirty thanks to imastupidbaby2 for this additional info
Persona 4:
  • Protagonist Chie and so on were born in 1994 which would make them 22 years old which is roughly Chihaya's age
  • Kanji Naoto and Rise being 1 year younger are 21 which again is close to Chihaya's age
  • Nanako being 6-7 on Persona 4 makes her 9-10 years younger than the protagonist so that would place her current age at about 12-13 years old which makes her most likely the same age or older than Shinya Oda from persona 5 and 2-3 years younger than Futaba Sakura
  • Ryotaro Dojima born in 1970 that makes him 46 making him 7 years younger than Pitbull Masayoshi Shido
Persona Q :
  • Rei I do not remember the exact dialog so I could be wrong but I recall mention that the bell of yasogami high was taken down when Chie was in primary school meaning a range of 7 - 12 years old when the bell was taken down meaning 9 - 4 years before persona q which in turn rei being a freshman 15-16 years old at the time is between 19 to 24 years old at persona Q timeline at her youngest estimate possible which would mean 25 to 32 years old in persona 5 timeline this being the youngest she could possibly be since we do not have data that I can remember on when the bell was built
Persona 4 Dancing and Arena :
  • Kanami roughly the same age one year younger than Rise I can't think of any precise data so she would be roughly 20 -21 years old (thanks to 1337lolguyman for reminding me about the dialogue in Persona 4 that mentions this)
  • Sho Minazuki I have no data on him either but I will assume he is roughly Narukami's age and thus 22 years old
  • Labrys she was activated on 1999 so she is pretty much the same age as Aigis and thus is roughly Ryuji's age
Edit(s): trying to make it easier to read

2017.05.12 01:04 VentrustWestwind Want your help with experiment by guessing these characters' abilities only from their designs!

Hello everyone, I’m in the middle of during a casual experiment looking at how well RPG characters’ character designs convey/reflect their abilities and their fighting styles. I’m looking for volunteers that would be willing to help me research this by looking at pictures of characters from an RPG series and judge/evaluate these characters skill sets and abilities by giving them with points within these four categories:
Physical Strenght. Offensive Magic. Technique/Dexterity. Healing/Support
If you are interested, then the rules are as follows: You will get shown the complete set of party members from two games. These party members also show up on the cover of both games, so there are no spoilers. You may look at all characters as the same time and compare them when awarding out points. You rate the character by assigning them a value from 1 to 10 in each category. I will rate this following character as an example (from Google):
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/aselia/images/f/f5/Alvin_Cut-in_%28ToX%29.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/250?cb=20111006040700
Alvin from Tales of Xillia.
Physical Strenght: 8/10 (Very big and has a large sword) Offensive Magic: 1/10 (Nothing about his look really indicates he uses magic) Technique/Dexterity: 4/10 (Two very different weapons, indicating some degree of dexterity and flexibility) Healing: 1/10 (He really looks like a fighter, so healing is not likely his specialty)
Note that in this example, I don’t give you the entire party to compare Alvin with, which could have potentially changed how you perceive him. Also, you don’t have to write a line justifying why you choose to rate each character like I just did.
I will leave the experiment up for one week before I compile the data, where after I will write a comment on my post that shows how people judged each character’s abilities on average, so you guys can compare your own score with that of the average person’s. Then I will also write what the characters’ skills and abilities are actually like within the game itself, and then we can compare how close our scores got to how these characters are actually like in battle.
With all that said, here comes the list of characters I want you guys to judge:
For this post, I will go with the cast of Persona 4 and Persona 5, only showcasing characters that appear on the cover of the games and/or appear in the opening. However, I will exclude two party members because they don’t fight, one from Persona 4 because it’s kind of a spoiler, and lastly also the very last party member from Persona 5 because it would ruin a rather humorous moment when you play the game for the first time and see this character’s battle gear.
As a side note: please be aware of marking spoilers in your comments. Also, please write if you have played the games or not before rating these characters, as that is useful material for the experiment. Don’t look up pictures of characters from the games on your own if you haven’t: there are big spoilers for three of them if you do.
While they may not look like it, each of these characters does have elemental magic they can use, but they vary in strength between characters. Knowing this, please don’t give all of them a 1/10 when it comes to magic.

2016.11.13 01:17 Thisvthat A Closer Look at the Persona Series & Persona 4 the Animation

Hello, everyone, you’re tuning in another episode of Anime Spotlight where we put the spotlight on shows that you may not have heard of, or shine the light a little brighter on shows that you’re already familiar with. Today, we’ll be taking a look at an anime with slightly different origin story, Persona 4 the Animation. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the sixth episode of Anime Spotlight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4I3bJQA1QR0
Transcript:
For those of you who haven’t seen the series, or who have seen it but need a quick reminder of what it’s all about, allow me to provide you with a quick synopsis:
Yuu Narukami moves to Inaba, a seemingly quiet and ordinary town, where he quickly befriends the clumsy transfer student Yousuke Hanamura, the energetic Chie Satonaka, and the beautiful heiress Yukiko Amagi. Shortly after Yuu's arrival, a chain of mysterious killings begin to occur on foggy days. At the same time, rumors about a strange television channel—dubbed the "Midnight Channel"—spread like wildfire; when staring into their TV screen at midnight, a person may see their soul mate.
After witnessing the most recent murder victim on the Midnight Channel, Yuu attempts to watch it again, only to realize that he can traverse into the TV and reach another world overrun with "Shadows," evil creatures of the dark. Realizing the link behind the hidden dimension and the murders, Yuu and his friends attempt to crack the cases by exploring the diabolical world of the Midnight Channel using their "Personas," awakened manifestations of their "true selves."

For those of you who weren’t aware, unlike most anime, which are adapted from manga or light novels, Persona 4 the Animation was adapted from the video game, Persona 4. So, in this episode of Anime Spotlight, we’ll not only be taking a look at the anime, but the video game, and the Persona series, as well. Okay, with that out of the way, lets rewind back to where this all began…
There’s a lot to cover before we even get to Persona 4, and a lot of that has to do with the “4” in the game’s title—even though it’s technically the fifth installment in the series, but we’ll get to that later. The Persona franchise, also known as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona, is a series of Japanese Role Playing Games (JRPGs) with social simulation elements. It’s a spin off of the mainline Shin Megami Tensei JRPG series, which was created by Kouji Okada (credited as Cozy Okada in English), Ginichiro Suzuki, and Kazunari Suzuki, based on the science fiction novel series Digital Devil Story by Aya Nishitani, and primarily developed by Atlus and Sega. Each game in the Shin Megami Tensei series features extraordinary creatures invading our ordinary world, and the characters in the stories obtaining the power needed to survive in these strange new times. The first game in the series, Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei, was released September 11, 1987. Since then, there have been several main Shin Megami Tensei games released, as well as a number of spin offs. One of those spin offs, Shin Megami Tensei If..., was by Atlus in 1994 for the Super Famicom. Its high school setting was incredibly well received, and it served as the original base for the Persona series. The first Persona game, Revelations: Persona, wasn’t released until 1996 in Japan and North America for Sony’s PlayStation. The game’s gameplay involves the characters exploring different environments around their town and fighting enemies using their Personas, which are alternate versions of themselves. The main difference, thematically, between the Persona spin off series and Shin Megami Tensei is that Persona games focus more on the relationships between the characters and how the characters think, and work together as a group—while Shin Megami Tensei games primarily focus on obtaining power and surviving. Later on in the game, players can create new Personas to fight with. Revelations: Persona was well received by critics and fan alike, and was also commercially successful—selling 201,147 units during its first week of release.
Because of the success of Revelations: Persona, Atlus started working on a sequel. Persona 2: Innocent Sin was released in 1999 for the PlayStation. Like Revelations: Persona, Innocent Sin featured a high school setting, similar exploratory and Persona creation gameplay features, and was generally well received by both critics and fans—selling 274,798 copies in the first year of its release. But, unlike the previous game, Persona 2: Innocent Sin wasn’t localized for western regions—and wouldn’t be until the game was re-released for the PlayStation Portable in 2011.
The writer of Innocent Sin, Tadashi Satomi, wasn’t totally satisfied with how the story ended and wanted to provide an alternate prospective. So, just one year later, in 2000, Atlus released Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for the PlayStation. With a similar setting, and gameplay features, as the previous two games, Eternal Punishment was a hit—loved by critics and fans and selling 106,563 copies during its debut week. Eternal Punishment was the game that firmly cemented the Persona series as a mainstay in western regions, and was the last game not to contain Shin Megami Tensei in the title—until Persona 5’s release early next year. The main themes of the first three games was an examination of the human psyche, and characters discovering their true selves—which would become an important theme in later Persona games.
In 2004, after completing Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga, Atlus began development on Persona 3. It was released two years later, in 2006, for the PlayStation 2. Persona 3 featured a similar setting and style of gameplay as the previous games, but there were also significant changes made to the Persona formula. Those changes included: adding in new social simulation features called social links, which represent the bonds formed between the characters and can grant special bonuses, AI controlled partners, one large main dungeon, and more. Persona 3 was also a critical and commercial success, selling 127,472 copies in its first week while receiving rave reviews from critics and fans alike.
And now, we’re finally getting to Persona 4! While ideas for Persona 4 were being bounced around before it, the development of Persona 4 didn’t begin until after the release of Persona 3. Altus’ goal was to improve the story and gameplay elements of Persona 3, without making the game feel too familiar. Katsura Hashino, the game’s director, stated, “to accomplish that, we tried to give the players of Persona 4 a definite goal and a sense of purpose that would keep motivating them as they played through the game. The murder mystery plot was our way of doing that." The plot of Persona 4 was inspired by mystery novelists Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie and Seishi Yokomizo. In response to the negative fan reaction to Persona 3’s AI controlled teammates, Persona 4 granted full control of the party back to the player. Other that, Persona 4 retained many of Persona 3’s core elements, including social links. They also focused on filling the world. Including so much data about the game’s school life, character relationships, and spoken dialog that Atlus was afraid that it might not all fit on the disc.
The design of Inaba, the rural town where the game takes place, was based on a town close to Mt. Fuji. How the town would look was a source of contention among the game’s developers because, “each staff member had their own image of a rural town." (-Katsura Hashino) They made Inaba into a run of the mill town instead of making a larger city with more tourist attractions. This allowed them to focus their development time on other areas. But, in order to keep the game from getting boring, they created several in-game events to spice things up. Initally, the characters were “more rural than was really called for… The characters aren't really hicks... They just happen to live in a place that's not a major metropolitan area." (Nich Maragos, lead editor). In order to help bring the game to life, the game featured anime cut scenes produced by Studio Hibari. After years in development, Persona 4 was finally released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2. Persona 4 received universal acclaim from both critics and fans, selling 193,000 copies within the first week of its release.
Persona 4 the Animation, was produced by the Anime International Company and directed by Seiji Kishi. It ran for 25 episodes between October 6, 2011 and March 29, 2012. But before it made it to the small screen, there were a few problems that needed to be ironed out. The main character in Persona 4, the game, is known as the protagonist, and not only can his name be changed by the player, but he serves as the player’s proxy into the game world. In order to do this, the protagonist was intentionally left without emotions, a distinct personality, or a voice, to allow the player to interpret how they would react and respond to the game world. Katsura Hashino noted that this would be a challenged for the anime’s director, Seiji Kishi, because the main character would have to speak and show some level of emotion in the anime. Seiji Kishi noted that it would be difficult to adapt the protagonist properly in the anime without ruining what made the character so great in the original game. In the end, the anime named the protagonist Yu Narukami, and decided to give him a spoken voice while still having him serve as a sort of proxy character for the audience to see the world through.
The anime retained most of the original game’s voice cast, in both the original Japanese and English dubbed versions. Persona 4 the animation has been generally received by fans, and is often referred to as the best video game-to-anime adaptation ever. This is because it’s very hard to adapt a 70 plus hour video game into an anime series. There are so many places, events, and social interactions that take place in the game, along side the main plot. Combine that with trying to nail the original feeling of the game and adapting all text, and contextual, information to an animated format, and you’ve got quite the task in front of you. But Persona 4 the Animation was able to successfully adapt this beloved game by combining the main plotline of the series with various social link events between different members of the main cast.
Thank you all for tuning into this episode of Anime Spotlight, and I hope that you were able to see the connections between all of the Persona games and the anime series. As the main focus of this video was to show how all of the games influenced the anime, I didn’t cover everything about the video game series, its spin offs, re-re-releases, or the other anime series based on the re-release of Persona 4, Persona 4 Golden. But, people don’t seem to like that version all that much anyway… Have you seen Persona 4 the Animation, and, if you have, what did you think of it?

2016.03.17 23:30 csmslt Compilation of Reference Locations (mostly :re)

Just a little trivia for everyone. This post is almost 100% sourced from this Tieba thread, and a bit from this thread. This blog was also useful.
Also note that this isn't all inclusive, as I did leave out a number of images in the Tieba thread since I couldn't find their exact locations (mostly random street shots capped in Google Maps -- but many of them are spot on if you want to check the original thread!)
